Young refugees and asylum seekers in the UK face challenges no young person should have to deal with alone. Many arrive without family, without stability, and without the support they need to navigate a complex and often hostile system. Isolation, unsafe housing, long waits for decisions, and barriers to education shape their everyday reality.
Young Roots exists to change that. When you fundraise for Young Roots, you’re helping young people access the advice, community, and opportunities they deserve.
Whether you organise a quiz night, take on a challenge, bake, run, cycle, or create something entirely your own, you’re standing with young people as they rebuild their lives.
Together, we can make sure they’re not facing this journey alone.

If you planned to get the donations to us in another way, pop the Fundraising team an email at fundraising@youngroots.org.uk. This way, we can advise on the best way to get your collection safely to us and how your participation will impact our work and the young people we work with.
Host a fundraiser or event to support young people.
Whether you do it with friends and family, or on your own, there is a whole range of activities and events you can organise to raise awareness and funds for your refugees! Here are just a few we’d like to share:
Birthday Fundraiser
Why not throw a birthday fundraiser and set up a collection on JustGiving? Instead of birthday gifts this year, you could ask your friends and family to support a cause close to your heart.
Jumble Sale
Have second-hand clothes or bric-a-brac that needs to go? To build up the courage and incentive to sell it, you could host a jumble sale and pledge any monies that come your way to go towards supporting Young Roots and young refugees in London.
Quiz Night
Whether it is asking your local pub to host your own quiz there, or doing one online, you can invite people to donate an entry fee and put their knowledge to the test.

Film Fundraiser
Are you a huge film fanatic? Then hosting a weekly cinema night could be a great way to share your love for films as well as raise money. You could find a local community room or show a popular film in your home. You can sell tickets, and even popcorn and drinks for guests to enjoy.
